08/28/2004 We've been laying low for a while, working, taking vacations, recording music...but we do still play out. We're very happy to announce a return to Griff's Place in Olney, on 9/25. Mark your calendars.
We will be announcing other shows soon. Stay tuned.

05/05/2004 Thanks to everyone who made it out to the Zoo Bar on Sunday. We'd also like to thank Last Second Comeback for opening with a great set. It was good for us to be back at old haunts after our recording hiatus. We've heard that some horses are getting antsy from the waiting, but if you can hold just a little longer while we finish recording, we promise a real good thing. Best wishes and don't forget to do something special for you mother next weekend.

04/14/2004 JUST ANNOUNCED...We've got a show scheduled for May 2nd at Zoo Bar. We hope to see all our long, lost friends and fans there. There's a real good chance we'll also have a great opening act. It isn't quite official, so check back on the web site in the coming days for more news on this development.
What?...did ya think we forgot about you? We've been sort of worried you may have forgotten about us. We took a little time off over the past 2 months, keeping pretty busy working on the CD. We're well into the project. It's still going to take a while to finish, but we hope to have it finished before the first snow. Just kidding...we're shooting for the first frost.
Take Care, |

01/09/2004 Happy New Year! CFHM is starting 2004 by sticking to a resolution we've had for a while -- our first CD. During our hibernation we were hunkered down practicing and coming up with some new material for the CD which will be out this spring if all goes according to plan. We'll be in studio in January and February but don't stop looking for us at some of our favorite venues. We'll be at the Zoo Bar on January 25 playing a lot of originals that you haven't heard in a while and we might surprise you with some of the covers that creeped out during practice. Thanks for all your support in 2003. |
|
10/12/2003 Well, we thought we were all set to begin recording but we had to postpone that for a few months. We're announcing our next Zoo Bar gig, but the date is sort of tentative. It should be firm in a couple of days, so if it's still here on the web site, it's good. We've got more to tell you, but no time to do it right now...stay tuned. |
|
08/11/2003 In case you missed us this past weekend, we had fun at Cowboy Cafe. Saw quite a few of our old AND new friends out there. To those who made it out...Thank you. Rumor has it we're there again in November. We'll let you know as soon as it's confirmed.
We're getting ready to hit another stretch of band vacations and trips to parts unknown, so we won't be playing out that much for the next month or so. However, you can catch us at Griff's Place this coming Saturday. It's a venue we always look forward to playing. After that we'll hit a bit of a dry spell. Might try to squeeze in a Sunday night or two at Zoo Bar along the way. Coming up in September, we're back at JV's.

|
07/22/2003 It's been a busy couple of weeks. We played JV's, Zoo Bar and Cowboy Cafe...whew!
On July 12th we went back to play one of our favorites...JV's. Once again, we've got to thank Lorraine for inviting us back to JV's. We love playing there. It's a nice, intimate venue for live music. The crowd is right up there in your face just the way we like it. We'll be back there on September 19th.
The next night we played at Zoo Bar. It was Jeff's birthday and he had quite a crowd of well-wishers. It also seems like there were more musicians in the crowd than were on stage. Jeff Campagna and Pete Paraschos of Last Second Comeback stopped in for a listen, as did Andy Walsh, drummer for Underdog. We're sure we saw a few others out there. We had a great time. Also, big thanks to Pete for the string changin'.
Last Saturday we returned to Cowboy Cafe. Wow, was it hot! Their air conditioning was out and it was hot that day...but the show must go on. To the brave souls who stuck it out all night, thank you. Many of you had some very nice things to say about our music. We appreciate it. We'll be back at Cowboy Cafe on August 9th...hopefully for a few "cool" sets.
Now we're off for a few weeks of well-deserved rest and relaxation.

06/16/2003 We had a great time at Griff's Place this past weekend. It was nice to see everyone having such a good time and dancin' the night away. We will be back at Griff's very soon. We're also trying to schedule monthly appearances there beginning in the fall, so you'll be able to see us at Griff's all the time.
Just wanted to let everyone know...we're in the early stages of planning to record our first CD of original songs. It should be completed some time in the fall. More details to follow.
See you at JV's on Saturday, July 12th.

06/11/2003 We've had a couple of shows since the last update, Cowboy Cafe and yet another Zoo Bar. We'd really like to thank the Zoo folks for coming out (actually they were already there) and staying all night. They enjoyed themselves and we enjoyed playing for them. Just a great bunch of folks who could dance to darn near anything we played. We hope to see them back out there at our next appearance on July 13th.
Our next performance is this coming Saturday at Griff's Place in Olney. If you can make the drive, you should definitely come out. Griff's is a great little roadhouse with a personality and atmosphere you won't find anywhere else in the area. We always have great fun playing Griff's.
After Griff's we'll be taking a little time off before we play again, on Saturday, July 12th, at JV's Restaurant in Falls Church. JV's is probably THE last honky-tonk in Northern Virginia and has a truly rich musical heritage that continues today. If you haven't been to JV's, you just don't know what you've been missing.

05/20/2003 Had a great night this past Sunday at DC's Zoo Bar thanks to friends and fans for coming out on a cold and dreary mid-May evening. We'll be back at the Zoo Bar on Sunday, June 8 and then again on Sunday, July 13. So, drink 'til the last drop on the weekends and hang out with us on Sunday's at the Zoo Bar. See you there. |
|
04/29/2003 In case you missed us and the Scott's folks, we played from 10am 'til 4pm on Saturday, April 26 in Fredericksburg and Sunday, April 27 in Culpepper. Scott's (of Scott's Miracle Grow fame) is traveling around the nation for its 75th anniversary and may be setting up shop outside of your local Wal-Mart with free food and drinks, games and prizes and live bands (that's where CFHM came into the picture). Local country radio stations, 93.3 WFLS in Fredericksburg and 103.1 WCUL in Culpepper were on the scene and it was great to meet DJ's Lee Richards (93.3) and Jonny K (103.1). We had a ball despite Saturday's deluge and Sunday turned out to be a perfect sunny day. Voices were raspy by day's end on Sunday due to a bout of Catfish Crud (our affectionate name for cold/flu/and other general ailments) that seemed to be going around.
Take care. And now for the quote of the day...
A good friend will come bail you out of jail...
but, a true friend...will be sitting next to you saying, "...that was fun."

|
04/10/2003 Hey there-We'd like to thank Griff for having us take the stage there for a second time this past Saturday. Always nice to mix with friendly regulars during our breaks. Thanks to our loyal listeners for making the drive out to Olney. We hope to get you and your friends out there soon cuz we'll be playing just down the line a little. Next time we're in Olney we'll have some new tunes and maybe a new look (Katrina claims she's gonna chop her hair but we're not so sure about that).
...only had time for a couple of quick updates, the most important of which is the cancellation at Whitey's. You may also notice the 2 new "appearances" on the weekend of April 26th & 27th...details to be added soon, so stay tuned.

03/31/2003 Hey there...now that Zoo Bar is starting to feel like a second home on Sundays (for some folks it's church for some folks it's bars and for some I
guess there's a little bit of heaven in both). We appreciate the loyal listeners and the Zoo Bar staff who braved that most peculiar snowfall for a few hours with CFHM. Mark debuted one of his new tunes 'One Last Goodbye' to close the set. Other originals included tunes by Greg (aka Doctor Corr) and Katrina. A big thanks to Chris Rentch for opening for us again with some fine acoustic country.
Aside from our regular covers that range from classics like Buck Owens and Merle Haggard to Sheryl Crow and the pierced-tongued Kasey Chambers, we've
been adding dobro and harmonica to lend an alt country edge to Bruce Springstein and Social Distortion to name a few. Expect some more originals right around the corner and surprise covers. Let us know if you have any
suggestions and we'll see what we can whip up for you. Til then let's hope that little lamb will come in and kick out the lion so we can get a little bit of a suntan around here. It's too damn cold. We've got another excellent venue scheduled for this coming weekend. Griff's Place is an honest to goodness roadhouse with a personality of it's own. We hope you can make it out to Griff's on April 5th. |
|
03/24/2003 It's been quite a while, but we're real glad to be back. We played our first "full" weekend of gigs on our first time back out to the clubs in 2 months. We had a great time playing both of the new venues. We'll be back to Outta The Way Cafe and Cowboy Cafe in the near future. If you haven't signed up yet, please get on the email list so you'll be sure to know where we're playing. Now we get a few days off and then it's back to The Zoo Bar. If you haven't been out to one of our Sunday shows at The Zoo Bar yet, you just don't know what you're missing. It's a great place and we promise not to keep you up too late. |
|
02/18/2003 Some new pictures and recently announced shows. |
|
02/15/2003 Sorry it's taken so long to get the web site updated, but we're in sort of a quiet period, band-wise. We'll try not to let it happen too often.
We'd like to thank the regulars at JV's Restaurant and Lorraine as well as
CFHM loyal listeners for making it out on a Thursday night to catch a few
tunes and swill a few beverages. Despite lingering catfish crud (cold and
flu season was not kind to CFHM), we had a whole lot of fun and were pleased
to see folks dancing to some of our favorite songs. We're looking forward
to performing again at JVs later this year. We'll let you know when that is
and next time you come out to hear us at JV's make sure you have some of
Lorraine's brew (the Dominion ale named after her by the brewing company)
and save room for the lasagna. Stay tuned... |
|
01/21/2003 If you missed the last Zoo Bar, you missed a really fun evening. Chris Rentch and his friend Andy Charest played a great set to open things up. CFHM played a couple of spirited sets to a very appreciative audience. We'd all been sick as dogs all week long, but managed to get through the evening.
Thanks to everyone who came out. We made some new "alt-country" friends we hope to see in the future. Our next show is at JV's Restaurant on January 30th. It's a Thursday, but we won't be playing into the wee hours. Come on out to the first CFHM show in Virginia. Club information is up in Gigs/Shows. PS - Gone is the annoying pop-up for upcoming show information. It may resurface at some point, but for now, I think you know where to find the information. |
|
01/13/2003 MERRY NEW YEAR, Y'ALL!
Griff's must have liked the show because they've already booked us for a return engagement on April 5th. We'll definitely be looking forward to that one.
If you haven't caught a Sunday night at the Zoo Bar yet, you'll get yet another chance this coming weekend. It's a holiday evening for some, and we hope to fill the place. We'll also have special guest, Chris Rentch opening us for us. He's a very talented musician you won't want to miss. Chris will begin performing at 7:30, so come early. |
|
12/20/2002 A big thanks to the students and staff of Herbert Hoover Middle School in Rockville, Maryland where three CFHMs (Gregg, Bill and Katrina) participated in the school's career day on Friday, December 13! The kids were a great audience and had insightful questions. The basic message that we hoped to get across to folks was that forging one's way in music is a tough road and you've gotta love it to do it. And if you do love it (music or whatever else it may be) and you're not doing it, you might want to take a good, hard look at why not. If it's cuz you think you think you're too old, too young, too smart, too dumb, then you're just wasting you're time in a world where someone is always better, smarter, prettier, richer, dumber, poorer and such -- you just can't worry about everybody else. So stick to your guns and what you love in 2003. (That goes for the 13 and 14 year olds at Herbert Hoover and anybody else out there willing to listen to the ramblings of CFHM.)HAVE A HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON! |
|
11/27/2002 NEW ZOO BAR SHOW SCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER 15TH.
If you haven't caught a Sunday night at the Zoo Bar yet, you'll get another chance in December. After that show we'll go into hiding for a few weeks to get ready to play a full night of music. We'll be doing just that at Griff's Place on January 11, 2003. |
|
11/10/2002 MANY NEW SHOWS SCHEDULED. DETAILS TO FOLLOW.
We've been working hard on new material, really concentrating on some more uptempo material. We'll have quite a few new songs to debut on our next outing at The Zoo Bar. Come on out!
Two fine sets of music on a Sunday evening, home by 11 and we'll help take your mind off all the hustle and bustle of the upcoming holiday season. |
|
10/24/2002 JUST SCHEDULED...CFHM appearing at The Zoo Bar in DC.
As always, 2 sets of music, home by 11 and you'll feel like a million bucks the next morning!
|
|
10/21/2002 We had a great time at The Zoo Bar last night. We'd like to thank everyone who came out too. We can't do it without you. Check back soon. We hope to have another show to announce in the coming days.
|
|
10/09/2002 We played a private party this past weekend and had a great time. Big thanks to Ruth and Jim for inviting us out there. We're always more than happy to play our music...Have Guitar. Will Travel.
|
|
10/02/2002 We played Zig's last night and everything went well once we got started. To those of you who came out, we definitely appreciate it. It was just a short set on a Tuesday night, we weren't sure anyone was coming out. We're finished with our public appearances for a couple of weeks. Stay tuned though. We hope to announce some new shows sometime next week. |
|
09/30/2002 We finally had our first "official" performance last night at the Zoo Bar. Whew... Everything went well and a fine time was had by all. To the many friends and family who came out, THANK YOU. Given the strength of your support, we should be announcing another show there in the next few days. |
|
09/14/2002 Summer's over, along with all of our vacations and it's time to get back to work.
|
|
08/13/2002 Well, we had a great time at the Beth-Allison and The Well-Strung Boys CD release party this past Saturday at the Zoo Bar. We played a 30-minute set to open the night. Our new drummer joined us after only one practice. We were well received, and a good time was had by all. Beth-Allison and The Well-Strung Boys played an inspired show that night. They were joined on stage by two additional musicians, Tom Hnatow on banjo and Helen Hausmann on violin, which added to their already great sound. They demonstrated why they are one of the top Americana genre bands in the DC area. We were honored with the invitation to open up the night. We have pictures from The Zoo Bar. In a few short days you'll get a chance to see the whole band. You can always view a few pictures on the Catfish Honeymoon Yahoo Group. |
|
07/28/2002 We finally have a full band! Jeff Kurtz is the latest addition to the Catfish. We hope to introduce him at our next appearance, which we're sure you must have noticed in the pop-up window. Keep coming back to the site to check for news. As for performances, if you're on the email list (you are, aren't you?), you'll be notified as soon as it's scheduled. We're going to take some pictures at The Zoo Bar. We'll have them here shortly thereafter. You can always view a few pictures on the Catfish Honeymoon Yahoo Group. |
|
07/24/2002 In case you missed us, we had a couple of performances over the past few days, We played the Showcase this past Sunday at Whitlow's (Thank you Kenny) and did yet another open mike at Zig's in Alexandria on Tuesday. We came away feeling pretty good about both of them. We're trying really hard to put together a full band. It's only a matter of time. No matter how much fun we may have doing a Showcase at Whitlow's, there's so much more we'll be able to accomplish with (at least) a drummer. We've got quite the collection of electric instruments just gathering dust for now. We're all itching to plug 'em in. Keep coming back to the site to check for news. As for performances, if you're on the email list (you are, aren't you?), you'll be notified as soon as it's scheduled. We're still working on the pictures. Due to the pending addition of new members, it may take a little more time. You can always view a few pictures on the Catfish Honeymoon Yahoo Group. |
|
07/15/2002 We're still working on the web site, honest. It's been a hectic month... Bill Robinson (bass) is the newest member of our group, and a tremendous asset at that. He hit the ground runnin' and has worked very hard since joining up. Next on the agenda is getting a drummer. With any luck we'll have one before Labor Day. We'll be looking to play real shows shortly thereafter. We'll have pictures and bios up on the web site in the next couple of days. Sign up for
the email list so you'll be sure to see our next performance. |
|
06/07/2002 Yes, we have a name, "Catfish Honeymoon", and we're making headway on getting a full band put together. More on that in the next installment. Sign up for
the email list so you'll be sure to see our next performance. |
